Looking for the next big thing? Well the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is going to fill the gap. The new phone, which is released by Samsung, is the first Android 4.0 phone available on the market and so comes with all the thrilling innovations on offer from the new OS.

The Samsung bears resemblance to the Nexus phones of the past most certainly. It comes with the curved corners and curved screen and the large 4.65 display is surrounded by a plastic chassis, which feels quite strong and safe in the hand thanks to its texture covered plastic back. The phone is also very slim and comes in at 8.8mm in depth making it slightly thicker than the sister phone, the Samsung Galaxy SII.

The phone’s screen is one of the other big talking points, aside from Android 4.0 and is a giant display with an equally large resolution – 1280x720p to be precise. This large screen looks fantastic and is of the Super AMOLED variety, ensuring it is extremely bright and also very vibrant. Contrast levels and colours are as you would expect from the phone and it really astounds. The high resolution makes it excellent for browsing and watching footage on and it is in fact only below the retina screen necessity of 300pixels per inch – amazing considering its size.

Of course Android 4.0 is that talking point of the phone and it brings most notably face recognition technology with it. This allows you to unlock your phone with a quick peer into the front camera. Android 4.0 also includes a number of other cosmetic changes and has gotten some typeface revamps, notification changes and improvements in a whole host of other areas to bring it up to speed with IOS 5.

Samsung has included a 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the phone is as you would expect quite fast. This smoothness, which is encouraged with Android 4.0 and looks great on screen makes the phone an enviable proposition to other dual cores. Users can also choose from either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage for their needs on the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus also has NFC technology, enabling people the chance to pay for goods through their phone. They have also included a 5mp camera, capable of 720p video taking on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, though this is a little short of the premium phone norm of 1080p and an 8mp camera. The camera is good however and one of the most accurate we have seen at this level, so you don’t miss the larger figured technology. The shutter speed is also much improved with Android 4.0 – something Android fans will appreciate.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus looks like quite a good proposition for the Christmas period and comes with an array of next generation technology to push it past most of the other phones on the market. We’re definitely excited and can’t wait to get our hands on one.
